When you sell on Cash on Delivery, returned parcels are one of your biggest costs. Every return means courier charges both ways, packaging and staff time — together they take a large share of your profit. The good news: you can't stop returns completely, but a few habits cut them down a lot.
Call the customer as soon as the order comes in. Check the name, address, product, size and total amount out loud. If a customer doesn't pick up or sounds unsure, think twice before shipping.
Courier data shows how many parcels a number has accepted and how many it has returned. For numbers with a high return rate, take the delivery charge in advance or verify the order separately.
"It didn't look like the picture" is one of the most common return reasons. Use real photos, a size chart and a clear description of the fabric or material. Don't over-polish and create the wrong expectation.
The more days between order and delivery, the more likely the customer changes their mind. Try to hand confirmed orders to the courier the same day or the next day.
"Your parcel is on its way, the delivery rider will call you" — a short SMS like this reminds the customer they ordered something, and fewer people miss the delivery call.
Knowing which districts, products or ads bring the most returns makes it easy to decide where to take advance charges, which ads to stop and which descriptions to fix.
Verifying the mobile number with an OTP at checkout cuts prank orders and wrong numbers sharply. Also be careful when one number places many orders in a short time.
Quick math: 50 orders a day with a 20% return rate means about 300 returned parcels a month. Cut that by 20% and you save the two-way courier cost of 60 parcels every month.
One Sales Flow keeps the confirmation call list, each customer's courier history, OTP, automatic SMS and return reports by area and product in one place — so these habits are easy to follow every day.
